Christmas

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas!

I'd like to start off this blog post by doing a shout out to my favourite little cousins: Em, Auds and Sammy. My Mom tells me your really enjoying my blog and I'm always happy to here when someone does. I miss you guys tons and look forward to babysitting you guys again when I get back.

The 23rd we set up the Chrismas tree.

With my family in Florida and me here it wouldn't have been quite normal. Here we have Christmas on the 24th not the 25th. We also have to wait all day to open presents which was torture. I didn't expect anything but my host family here was amazing. I got two Swiss army knives: officers and infantry man. Which is cool. Andi didn't know what I wanted for a watch so he said we would buy one together which is also really cool. My host siblings are taking me to Europa Park in summer which is like Canada's Wonderland. And Andi has told me in spring we can go to Normandy because I talked to him a lot about the war.

I gave my host siblings the presents I got for them (jeans for the girls and shirts for the guys) they loved them. I forgot that mom sent me presents also so I opened them last night.

On the 25th we went to the sisters of my host mom and ate there. The food was amazing and we toured around Stein am Rhein which is a gorgeous little town.

My shop

(The gorgeous house)

We came back and used these torches or flares to take a walk. I took my go pro and had a little fun with it.

Yesterday Andi and I took the ferry across Bodensee to Fredrichafen in Germany. We went to the zeppelin museum which was really cool. Turns out that the Hindenburg was built 20km away from my school. The history that Europe has is amazing.

Yesterday it finally snowed and it hasn't stopped so we're getting quite a lot.

Last week Andi and I went to a Kaserie. (Cheese)

Being on Holidays is really nice cuz I just watch movies with the girls or go on walks with the dogs. I cant believe Ive already been here almost 5 months. It seems crazy.

Keep updated for my adventures in Switzerland.

Volleyball night

Hello avid readers (if you’re out there) I know its been two weeks since my last post but again not much is been going on. Last Sunday I ate fondue at my host sister’s apartment with the rest of the family. I have now realized that: 1. I’m REALLY out of shape and 2. I can understand my host family’s Swiss German when they talk slowly. Which is great because I am going on my 5th month and normally it takes longer than that just to learn German. School is the same but now I’m starting to have more fun. I can tease people now in German so I’m back to my old self (my class isn’t too pleased) one of my favourite acts is to act like I don’t understand what they mean when they explain themselves, and also when they explain themselves in English.

Last night was one of the highlights of my exchange but I’m 10209341098413948% tired from it. It’s called volleyball night. My class told me about it, but I misinterpreted what they meant by “night”. Apparently going from 7 to 10 or 11 is dumb. We played from 8 until 3 in the morning. It was a lot of fun and really funny. When you played competitively and then you play for fun you pretty much goof off. We played 8 games, won five and lost three. One of the games we won by one point and I got the point by serving backwards through my legs, the other team wasn’t very impressed and someone almost took a swing at me but I thought it was really funny.

Before we went for volleyball night we went to Konstanz which is in Germany. We went to a Chinese buffet and ate wayyy too much but it was a lot of fun and I figured out again that I can understand a lot of what my class says in Swiss German, which is awesome.

Sorry if this post is short and doesn’t make a lot of sense. I got home at 3:30 and woke up at 7. I also had to sleep on the couch because my sisters opened my windows so that my room would be “fresh” forgetting to close them when it was raining made it “wet”.

Stay tuned for more adventures in Switzerland. J
